I've been observing for a long time an annoying problem with tabs in Atmel or now Microchip studio.

After 7-character labels (plus :) they are sometimes taken into account and sometimes not.

As a result, the same source text often appears differently on different computers.

TAB considered after 7plus: label @ Win10 Computer 1:

Wrong @  Win10 Computer 2:

Using a Hex-Editor you can see that TAB (0x9) is present in source file:

This can happen after all such 7plus: (or 8-character) labels in different positions in the same line.

Text-Editor/All Languages/Tabs (respectively /Assembler/Tabs) and Environment/Tabs and Windows setup ist equal @ all used computers.

Is there any setting that still has an influence on it? What could be the reason? This behavior seems to be arbitrary.

This topic has a solution.

I immediately notice that the text size is different between your two screen-shots. Could that be the reason for the difference you have seen ?

You're right. The font size (was different) has an influence.

But why? Why this special tab after 8-character label not always taken into account?

What setting do you have, these are what I found, probably default since I have not changed it.

Notice the indenting options to cause TAB to work like a verity of editors; that is why I don't use TABs (well, except in Makefiles).

update: opps this is what I have

The same as mine except all my source text uses tab/indent-size=8.

Ignoring tab characters shouldn't happen, even depending on the font size...
