Two new mailing lists have be created at avr32linux.org: "kernel" for Linux kernel stuff and "u-boot" for u-boot stuff. Please see the following page for more information:

http://avr32linux.org/twiki/bin/...

The mailing lists are meant to supplement the avrfreaks.net forums, not replace them. In particular, the avrfreaks forums have turned out to be not very suitable for posting patches -- it's difficult to get them attached properly, it's not straightforward to discuss them afterwards and they tend to be lost in the noise. So the new mailing lists are meant primarily for posting and discussing patches, but testers are more than welcome too.

Please note the rules for those mailing lists -- they are few, shouldn't be difficult to follow, and open for discussion (they're written on a wiki page after all.)

So if you've written or improved a driver, please post a patch to the appropriate list and we will help you review and get it passed on to the higher levels in the hierarchy.

Good plan, certainly is easier to review and comment on patches inline.

What kind of stuff can we expect to be forwarded here (if anything). For example, would Nicolas' STN extensions to atmel_lcdfb have been forwarded to kernel@avr32linux.org if said list had existed a few hours ago?

Thx,
-S.

Well, I guess it all depends on people actually forwarding stuff ;-)

But important driver updates like that make sense to forward; in particular, the patch you mentioned could use some testing by people with AVR32s and STN displays...

I reckon so too, there are some STN hopefuls out there according to a trawl through this forum.

To put it another way then, as custodian and gatekeeper of the list, are you likely to forward those kinda things there?

Or shall we just leave it as anyone who spots something of interest flying past forwards it to the list themselves?
