I remember buying 50 bags of these!

 

Last full bag left from that project.  These were purchased to be soldered to the board, but NEVER turned on!  They were used as fillers for a retro style digital clock.  What a nightmare to hand load and solder as no pick and place houses for through hole LED's were available.

 

Oh well....Far ago, Long away....

 

If anyone wants the bag lemme know.

EDIT:  I must let you know in advance that the QC on these was obviously pretty low if you look at the label.  The intensity of the light varied.  But since they were purchased only as unlit fillers, it did not matter to me.  But the LED's do work.

NOPE. I have several hundreds that I need to unload. Waiting for the COVID restriction to ease so that the Radio ham club "Trash and Treasure" meetings restart.

 

Have the LB left yet? If not you may want to wait until after the crazy season is over or they may get lost. It took over a month to get some pots my wife ordered on line, they were supposed to be delivered next day and they did but not to our address angry Aussie posts is cutting corners with suspicious delivery subcontractor who do not speak English I think or read addresses.

I'm going to donate a bunch of stuff to a local school if they have an electronics program (haven't lived here long enough to know).  Thought about donating my old 2430A too.  I'm sure somebody would like to have that and a whole boatload of LED's.

Just gettin' started, again....

My kids' high school (ex-high-school, I guess) built a "maker space."  No electronics :-(

I got rid of some stuff to the electronics "club" at the school where my daughter is teaching.  Pretty much shortly before they shut everything down and went to online classes.

Find some code for an 8x8x8 LED cube and sell the LEDs on eBay in lots of 520 as part of DIY LED cube package.  I recommend getting a current-limiting resistor for each LED.  It would be between 330 and 47 ohms in value depending on how the LEDs are multiplexed by the cube design.  If you can, also include a pre-programmed Arduino Nano or Pro Mini (about $4)  as part of the DIY parts kit.

   Let the kit buyer make the cube's frame himself out of paper clips and coffee-cup straws.  You supply all the electronics for an 8x8x8 cube for, say, $29-$39.  That's 520 LEDs, 520 bulk resistors, an Arduino Nano, a cheap tiny DC switching power supply module, and a few other cheap components.
