I had used AVS 5 beta for some time. Two weeks ago I reinstalled PC, and now downloaded and installed AVS5 again.
Is my version beta or not? About window say it's 5.0.1163

Just curious... :)

If it is a fresh download, then it is most likely the ofiial 5.0 release (i.e. not labeled beta by Atmel).

Advice: For any serious AVR work, download and store your build tools (i.e. AVR Studio 5) in one or several safe places.

1) Atmel has to date not supplied/stored old versions of e.g. AVR Studio, and
2) They might release a new version w/o any warning, and if that release introduced a bug you can not live with, and if you do not have a local bakup of the working versions instl program, and if you crasch your computer...

You don't want to be at the mercy of Atmels bid here - which essentially boils down to "You can have any version of the AVR Tools that you wish, as long as it is the latest version".

So, ALWAYS keep a local copy of (the setup programs for) the tools that you use.

Serious professionals often select to actually keep them in their own version control system, but that's (partly) another story..

As of January 15, 2018, Site fix-up work has begun! Now do your part and report any bugs or deficiencies here

No guarantees, but if we don't report problems they won't get much of  a chance to be fixed! Details/discussions at link given just above.

Johan, thank you for good advices!

Now, I have two "copies" of AVS5. PC and laptop. And I'll keep old version setup.
