If we are in full control of finances, it's all very easy. But some entities just can't pay in advance because they might be bound by some kind of rules, so they need credit.

US SMB typically run on credit and can die due to that (the Great Recession)

Somewhat atypical US SMB run on cash but that means bootstrapping.
