Dear community,
today I faced some problems with ASF after startup of Mircochip studio, after having no problems before today. I tried to open up the WINC1500 OTA example for the SAMW25 XPLAINED board, but ASF refused to start and showed exceptions. After updating ASF to current version via Tools->Extensions and Updates, ASF now works again, but every example project I tried so far (MQTT chat, AP scan, even some SAMD21 examples), is generated without a main.c, only asf.h is present. Even ASF component folders do not contain any source code. In all the cases I tested, ASF wizard complains about the board not being present in the project if I start the wizard. I then can add a compatible board from a list, but the project is stoll not compileable.
What can I do to use ASF again? Am I doing something wrong here? Help is really appreciated, because I need to upgrade the WINC1500 firmware on an Arduino MKR1500 board with custom own firmware. I have an Atmel ICE available, if that opens some additional opportunities. Last time, I worked with SAMW25 XPLAINED board, and with EDGB being available, I was able to perform the procedure with the correct BAT file provided in some other ASF example project. But that does not work with the Arduino board. Or any custom board I might build in the future, that does not contain EDGB. Any other way of upgrading would be highly appreciated. Being able to use ASF for MQTT, HTTP server examples and so on would still be pretty nice!
