mega88PA how to enable PORTB pin 6 + 7 as i/o

Hi

 

trying to activate Portb6 and 7 as i/o pins ( to ligh led)

i have connected it to stk500

 

i have disable CLKOUT fuse (thus enable portb0)

write ASSR= &B10011111  to my code

 

but yet portb6+7 remains off

 

do i miss somthing ?

 

edit

leds are tested to work

how stupid.. pb6 and 7 in stk500 are NOT connect to portB but in XT1+2 pins

Everyone who has ever used 48/88/168/328 in an STK500 has been bitten by this one I think! You are not alone.

 

(when it happened to me it was only study of the schematics at the end of the STK500 manual that revealed what was going on and that I should be looking at the PORTE header!)

yep

its because of all these configuration bits that confuses you, and makes you believe that ," yes i forgot  configuation xyz"

On the old forum, "stk500 pb6 pb7" all words, ascending brings it right up.  On the new-and-improved Web site, it is nearly impossible to find that post.
