Hi there.

I've just received some Mega88's. I didn't do anything special to get them. Just ordered them, and received them the next day. But when I read the print on them, the date code says "E.S. 0407".
Are they engineering samples? And if they are, do you then know of any significant differences between them and the datasheet? Perhaps something not mentioned in the errata?
Or should I stop worrying and just use them

If you are scared of them, send them to me for evaluation. :)

In all probability: E.S. does indeed mean Engineering Samples, and the 0407 the seventh week of 2004.

I've never met a pig I didn't like, as long as you have some salt and pepper.

And how much did you pay (approximately) for how many?

I got them from http://www.elfa.se.
I got the last 3 (in TQFP) they had. I don't know if they have any DIP. But they should be getting more TQFP's in a few weeks.

The price was 26 danish kroner each, which is about 3,50 euro.

Yes , you got engineering samples.
This means that the chip design is still NOT fixed.
But be happy that you got any mega168 samples because at momemt they are ver rare.
