Hi all

Has anyone been able to lay their hands on the Mega256 yet?
They promised me samples but I haven't seen any yet.. :evil:
For those who don't know:

basically a souped-up Mega128 with:
* 256kb flash ( :lol: :P :lol: :P :lol: :P )
* 8k SRAM
* 24MHz (5v)

we are seriously in need of an extra couple K of codespace, and we are getting sick of squeezing the code...

Hi,

Althought it would be a waste you might be able to strap another processor on your board that does a bit of the work and the code uses that space instead...

However that might not be possible of course depending on the hardware you are using.

Unfortunately no, this is a shipping product. no strapping-on of spare processors today! :(
I have heard from the atmel guys, and apparently we don't have too long to wait. Possibly end of march. (this year? -hope so)

It's quite amazing how it is next to impossible to know how much codespace you will need for a given project. Most of us are pretty good at making a guess, but more often than not, a project ends up with a gazillion extra features the marketing team has already sold and we have to cram in..
sounds like a typical dilbert scenario..
