I'm growing a bit weary of manufacturer specs... and I'm looking for a way of verifying them. Does anybody have a good technique for verifying gate charge ratings for FETs? I can think of some brute force methods (inline resistor and differential probe across it, or something along those lines)

Thanks!

apply a known constant current and see how fast the voltage rises. Note however that it will be a tricky measurement as your probe will for sure interfere with the measurement.
They have special testers to test diodes, fets, transistors but for a one time test these are probably way to expensive.

You must be very careful, since the circuit and
waveform at the drain may influence what you see
at the gate, for example due to the Miller-effect.

And the gate-capacitance is voltage dependent,
so current measurement alone will not do the trick.
