thinking out loud here..didn't Apple a couple of months ago file a lawsuit against HTC products and their use of similar touch interface gestures?..wondering how (if any) this affects the use of the Atmel IC if its used in the HTC products and the use of those touch gestures?
wonder if maybe using the Synaptics ic and those similar touch interface gestures will prevent an Apple lawsuit?

I have a gesture I offer (royalty free) to those trying to patent things that shouldn't be patented. And to those approving such patents.

I agree ,but if you had patented "that gesture your speaking of" think how rich you'd be!

The continuing irony of a company whose entire GUI basis was stolen from Xerox PARC.

Oh, and back OT. Let's all join hands and pray that Atmel gets this market so that they'll have enough cash flow to get back on track.

The 'intellectual property' in dispute is being able to detect the xy coords of two fingers on a screen rather than one. Agree? This is completly analogous to being able to detect one or two keys down on a typing keyboard and/or a musical keyboard, neither of which seem to have been patentable. So when you sell something new that nobody else has, it gets copied. If Apple gets much more succesful, I bet the Chicago Mafia will station a Profit Czar in Cupertino to keep those pesky Capitalist companies from interfering with the Grand Four Year Plan.
