Hello
I'm using a laptop and i need a to use the LPI port is there any circuit to make the USB to LPI adapter like this?

It depends on what you're trying to interface with. Most (maybe all) of the commercial USB to parallel adapters out there only support printers, because the USB standard doesn't provide for a generic parallel interface or even just a generic data class profile. It does provide a generic printer profile, so those commercial adapters use that. As a result other things that attempt to use a parallel port, like old CNC equipment, or MCU programmers, etc, will flat out not work with them.

You'll have to build it yourself, though (version 1.6 is AVR based!), and I'm not sure if it supports Win7/8 if that's what you're using. Also note that it requires a custom driver, since it provides functionality not available in the USB spec.

If your laptop has a PCIe ExpressCard slot, you could get a hardware card, but you'll need to be sure to get a true PCIe card and not a USB card (ExpressCard provides both interfaces). The link above outlines a couple of other options.

well it has an express card but i'm not sure if it is usb based or PCI based ? how can i figure it out?

Note the description mentions "Provides one IEEE 1284 SPP/EPP/ECP Parallel Port", whereas USB devices will talk strictly about "printer interfaces". The price is a bit of a give away as well (anything <$30 is pretty sure to be USB), and you will usually find reviews on the USB devices from people complaining about how it didn't work with their (non-printer) device.

Another option, of course, would be to build a CNC control system that does not require the parallel port. In general, that would be the safer "long-term" bet anyway. What control system are you planning on using, and what drew you to it?

One would've though this question has been asked a million times on, say the Mach3 forums - assuming this is the cnc program you are referring to.
