Hi,

Can it be an USB problem? Are you connecting it through a hub and/or a long cable?
Has it worked earlier on the same setup?

Hi ,

I think its not an USB problem, I am using a single long cable . actually I borrowed one more JTAGICE mkII  debugger from another team and its working fine with my setup , but my own debugger is not working ,its actually getting restarts while connected to target or doing firmware upgrade of the debugger, I think setup doesn't have any issue , I am suspecting hardware of the debugger.

What about the flex cable? It seems to cause a bit of headache for a lot of people, see https://www.avrfreaks.net/forum/j....

Hi ,

thank you , i have gone through the thread shared by you. but i dont think its a flex cable issue, because when i tried to upgrade the firmware of JTAGICE mkII debugger its getting restarted inbetween ,here flex cable is not in picture, flex cable connected to target from the debugger .

i think something is triggering the debugger to restart in itself.

Have you tried to use an external power supply? According to the manual it needs to be 9-15V DC.
After that I would try a forced firmware upgrade:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Atmel\Studio\7.0\atbackend>atfw.exe -a "C:\Program Files (x86)\Atmel\Studio\7.0\tools\JTAGICEmkII\jtagicemkii_fw.zip" -t jtagicemkii

To avoid any external failure sources I recommend disconnecting the the jtatice from the target.
If it still does not work I hope someone else has some good suggestions.
