hello---just got the JtagII up & running---but I can't find a manual anywhere on how to USE IT only a few 2 page advertising blurbs on the atmel site. There is a bit of info on how to wire it up, but my wiring is quite fine. What all can this little beast do? Are there any manuals? For example, what are the leds on the MKII?

Also, I assume from what I have read that the MKII does not offer the ability to trace through your programs (YOU get to do the tracing). It would be nice if it would spit out a listing of the sequence of code that is being executed---why can't it, at least in single/auto step mode?

Finally, is there an easy (physical) way to switch between the mkII & the STK500 ISP? If you modify & trace your code a lot , it seems that you have to keep pulling wires to hook up the JTAG unit. Can JTAg & ISP be connected together at one time 9but inly using one at a time)?
I have an extensive new project that must be completed in a week or two (as usual)

The only documentation I have found is in the AVR Studio 4.10 help files.

I have used the MKII (USB connection) on the ATmega128 JTAG connection and it automatically downloads the new assembler program to the AVR whenever I start the debug session. I have not tried DebugWIRE yet. The only time I have used STK-500/501 programming is when I was forced to use parallel programming to correct some fuse settings.

As for tracing, AVR Studio shows the assembler source code and points to the exact op-code as it executes in single step or the place where a break occurred. AVR Studio will display the internal state of the chip (registers, etc.) wherever its stopped like this.

I am currently using MKII with AVRStudio 4.10 and GCC. I write all my code in C and
load/debug with AVRStudio. Switching between C and Assembly is easy. Placing
breakpoints, stepping, and displaying memory/registers is all done with AVRStudio.
