Hello,
I am having prooblems doing ISP in windows XP, has anyone had this problem before. It is pretty much the same as windows 2k, is there anything special that I need to do. I am using the stk300 dongle, and I tried a a few different programs, and nothing seemed to work. I dont really want to put 98 on a machine just so that I can download the freakin code. Thanks!

win2k and xp are more strict, for security reasons, and don't allow user mode programs to use protected resources i.e. parallel ports. to use these resources a program either has to be a kernel mode program (Driver ) or has to set certain permitions in the IOPM structure, long story short, there is a program that must be ran to give port permitions to the ISP program. Search the net for ” AllowIo.exe”.
Just so you know I’m using win XP and loving it!
Good luck!!

Have you tried the backstep Compatibility feature of XP? It's in the properties option of .exe files.

Who knoes, it might work!

For me it worked in some programs but I haven't really tested it for programs which use PC ports.
