Interfacing External ADC

Hi,
I interface LTC1859 a serial ADC to the ATmega128. i use SPI to connect the ADC.
I want to know if anyone had done that before.. please give me some initialization tutorial. .

I assume you can edit, compile, burn and run a program on the mega128? Can you print "hello" on the serial port? Good. Do you have an spi function that sends a byte and returns a byte? Good. I glanced at the datasheet... looks like you send a byte that selects channel and gain, then you assert conversion start, then you poll busy, then you send a byte, read back a data byte, twice, and print out what you get back. Should be able to see smooth changes when you change the input with a pot.

guys i also worked on the same set of adc and micro processor. i have a completely working code of the same, btw the person above has explained the procedure completely. try it out and contact if u struck any where. i would suggest u ppl to try it out once and debugg the code line by line so as to rectify some minute silly mistakes other wise its a relatively easy code
