I'm excited about getting started with uC's. I'm planning on getting a STK500 to start with. Should I go ahead and get a dragon to work with it so I can debug?
My first project is a very simple one. It is one I tried to tackle with many TTL chips when was 19, but my lack of soldering skills and ultimately lack of capability in interfacing it with transitors and relays damaged the chips and I gave up.
The project was a remote car starter. I already had an alarm installed so the wireless end of things was covered as I had a line going to ground I could use as a single input signal to it. I am just use a button to simulate this in my first uC project.
It would work like this. You hold the button and it would turn on two outputs, engine coil and engine starter. When you let up on the button, it lets up on the starter, but keeps the engine coil on. When you press the button again, it turns off the engine coil. Then the process repeats. Should be a very simple thing to do with a button and two LED's with a uC I would think.
I don't in any way plan to actually use this project, I just plan to develop it for learning sake, so I don't plan on hooking it up to a car.
Should I get the dragon board at the same time as the STK500 so I can debug ???
I looked over the project pictures thread last night and I am very impressed with what you guys are able to do, pretty cool stuff there.
