Guys,
Does anyone have experience with RS485 and ATMEGA128 ?
Do I need RS232 for it ? or RS485 is replacing my RS232 ?

Any references or clues will be appreciated..
Thanks

How do you think that I guessed you haven't even tried the search feature yet?

I have an olimex mega128 board, and it has an rs232 gizmo so the avr can talk to an rs232 device like an old pc. When I want to use rs485, it is usually several devices all listening to the same two rs485 wires. Like a bunch of temperature sensors. rs232 is used from one device to another... point to point. rs485 is for multidrop. You might be wondering how a computer can send and receive to several devices all using the same pair of wires. The freaks can explain this, but you need to get an avr with a serial port and write a program that sends and receives ascii characters using the serial port first.
