Greetings -

This is really frustrating and does NOT bode well...  I am trying to retrieve the device packs pertinent to Mega4808/9 so that I can start on XPlainedPro 4909 without START (though I am guessing that START will need them, also).

I open AS7 and go to Tools > Device Pack  Manager. Under ATMega_DFP, I choose one of the  device packs. I click install. After downloading anywhere from 500 bytes to a few K, I get an error that says something like "Download Error - timed out". I repeat this for ANY other device pack and get similar behavior. Precise error message:

Error occurred while downloading

Network error: timeout

[retry]  [close]

After this  miserable behavior, I have downloaded 16Meg of CV. So, clearly, it is NOT my computer nor my internet connection.

What gives? Does the DevicePack server even work? Am I forced to go to CV?

Thanks

Jim

What is the name of the pack(s) you are trying to download as I am having no issues downloading and installing packs?

Try restarting AS7 and try again.  Worst case restart teh PC.  It downloaded on my Surface laptop on wifi with no issues.  Will check my DELL desktop

Hmmm, just tried something different. I had been clicking the "Install" button to the right of the  pack name. Instead, I now just tried checking the box at the left of the name, then clicking "Install" at the top of the page. That seems to be working.

Follow-up: seems to install successfully.

Just tried 1.2.150 on my DELL desktop.  Went right through no issues on fire fox.

Microchip Studio 8?

IIRC, different device pack types between Atmel Studio and MPLAB X.

Why 1.2.150? There has been a lot of updates and the latest has a new oops at  in the top file "package.content" near the bottom.

update: clarify opps location

1.2.150 was one I was specifically interested in because of the core Mega4809 support. It was just one of many but I absolutely needed that one.

The nub of my problem was that the install button at the right of each pack name appears not to work. Clicking the check boxes (at the left end of each line) and then clicking the install up at the top worked.

Surely once the packs have 4809 (such as your 1.2.250) then every subsequent pack will have it too? What's more (because it's new and potentially unstable) later ones may have important fixes so I wouldn't pick the first one where 4809 first appeared. In fact it's pretty difficult to think of a reason why you wouldn't always choose latest.
