Anybody familiar with this in a VB 2008 environment?
Just get the serial port component and drop it into your project. It will work with things like USB>RS232 adaptors too.

but similar to how an ftdi 232 can show up as a comm port, I'd like a written program to do that as well. . .lantronix is a good example: for their matchport, they include a utility that links tcp with a VCP. . .I'm interested in accomplishing similar. . .
