I've searched here at AVRFreaks.net and at Atmel and have not found a roadmap document concerning the AVR Nega parts, specifically I'm looking to see if a 20MHZ or better M2560 will be available soon. While migration to the XM platform is probably in our future I could sure use a faster M2560 right now.
Has anyone heard word?

I have not heard about a faster m2560. The larger Atmel effort seems to be on the XMega parts.

Unfortunately the 256K Flash XMega part has not been released. I'm not sure that even the 192K part is available. Other parties may know better than plain old me.

Nonetheless, the XMega series is good to 32 MHz and has lots of interesting additions (DMA! Larger SRAM addressing! "Events" (whatever those are)!) that are supposed to help make life wonderful.

I keep threatening my management that I want an STK600 and an XMega to start playing with, but they keep me busy enough that I really haven't had time.

Engineering seems to boil down to: Cheap. Fast. Good. Choose two. Sometimes choose only one.
