I know Vector very well (CANoe is something of an "industry standard" in the automotive world in which I reside). They are a good company making robust/stable products (hardware and software). I wouldn't be too concerned about the future of Lint - the fact is that in recent times, because in Automotive static analysis (esp MISRA checking) is a key tool, it was loosing out to the likes of Klockwork, QAC and so on. Could be interesting times to see what direction Vector take it in.

Likewise though am concerned about PC-lint Plus; seems the ones at Microchip Technology are too.

Indeed interesting times as PC-lint Plus straddles linter and static analyzer.
