Hi,

I've got the latest version of AVR-GCC, and tried to compile gcctest7, without success. It says “Error on parsing symbol 215-> Type:204x Desc : UART_Ready:G(1,2)=B(14,1)”. I messed around with uart.c to do some tests, and figured out that if i removed the "volatile" keyword from infront of the decleration for UART_Ready i didn't get the error. Then i tried compiling a small file that says

volatile int pwm;

int main(void)
{
pwm = 255;
}

and a similar error is generated. I haven't actually tested to see if the files generated a downloadable code that works, because I was trying to help someone on the main forum with his UART problem. So does the parsing symbol error matter? I just started with GCC-AVR, so I don't have too much experience in these things!

Thanks,

-Colin

Hi,

you discribe a known problem with the elfcoff tool. You can search for "elfcoff" in this forum to get more information. Search for "One more Fix for elfcoff" in this forum, to find a modified elfcoff.
