I've recently became a convert to freeRTOS as it solves so many common patterns - however,  as with most things related to atme asf, they get you very close to what you want then leave you dangling with no solutions.  Seems to take hours then to wade through the code to find something that is close.

FreeRTOS has some extras such as command line interpreter which looks perfect for some of my functions , however it requires freeRTOS +io.  has anyone seen or had experience with this and the samd series?

thx for any help

FreeRTOS+CLI is a very small piece of code that has no dependency on FreeRTOS+IO.  It does need you to provide character input and character output functions, but these can just be calls to a uart read and uart write function, or the equivalent for whichever connection type you are using.  Examples are provided, such as this one for which you just need to provide implementations for xSerialPortInitMinimal(), xSerialGetChar() and vSerialPutString().  The same directory has an equivalent for UDP/IP IO, and the FreeRTOS+TCP TCP/IP stack has an equivalent for TCP/IP IO.
