Ext clock signal... Ckopt fuse set or not ?

Hi
I have two AVR's using the same X-tal...
it's all wired as shown in the datasheet...
but I've fallen over some about enabeling CKOPT fuse on the uC using the external clock ?
Right now everything works fine, but this is WITHOUT CKOPT set ?

External clock does not mean external crystal. For the use of CKOPT for external crystals see page 26.

I know... I have uC_1 with the crystal connected, fuses is the last high speed crystal fuse and CKOPT..

uC_2 has the signal from uC_1 XTAL-out connected to XTAL-in

so correct me if I'm wrong... but is uC_2 not runing by an external clock now ?
