Hi all,

I am using Atmel Studio 6.1.2730 - Sevice pack 2

When I run the extension manager an error window pops up saying
"Failed to load page '1': One or more errors occurred.
Additional information may be available on the output window pane."
Unfortunately, nothing is shown in the Output window.

Is this something other users are experiencing?
Any suggestions or fixes?

Regards - Johan

Yup I'm seeing that too. I've also seen another error in the same circumstance which seemed to suggest a lack of memory so I think that might be behind this.

Hi Cliff, checked my memory. Only 2.85GB of 8GB in use. So I can't concur the lack of memory idea. Are you seeing this error consistently, or does it work sometimes?

Well this is interesting. I recently got a new PC. On the old one I have WinXp running in a VirtualBox. I just copied the entire VM to the new PC so in theory it's completely identical.

It is in that "new" copy of the VM where I always see this error (and it is always). It spends a little time "Retrieving information" but then ends by always showing the error.

However I just switched the monitor back to the older PC+VM and did the same operation in what should be an identical AS6 running in an identical VM and yet it works there.

So the mystery deepens. Almost everything about these two installations is 100% identical although I guess the software has to contact the outside world via the network to do the check for extensions so I think I'd have to conclude that it's down to a difference in network access.

To continue: I have re-tried this at various times of day and fairly ofthen over the last 3 days to rule out something like server unavailable due to high load or internet problems. No luck. I have also started Atmel Studio as administrator to no effect. Not too many people commenting on this, so this must be a fairly isolated case or problem?

The clues are in my post above. as I say I have two VM's running on two different PCs actually using exact same copies of the .VDI that hsa WinXp/AS6 installed. One does and one doesn't. The only differences I can think of are:

1) machine storage resources (RAM, HDD space etc - though in the VDI the disk space wil be the same and the virtual machine RAM size is the same).

2) network access - one machine is "open" the other is corporate and uses a proxy and VPN to access the internet. That's the one that does not work.

I strongly suspect 2. I suspect some site or port that's required by extension manager is blocked. While the machine is fine for almost all port 80 access (for example) I have quite a job trying to make external port 21 (FTP) access. Maybe Extension Manager tries to use ftp:// ?

I have this error too, its recent...

course got a bunch of updates, I cant update now :)

related to IE11? (as I just installed that over IE10)

it used to work... many times...
last I used it was to update LUFA

VS2012's extension manager works
VS2010's extension manager works

(win7x64)

The failed to load page error usually comes if you are accessing the gallery from a slow connection or from behind a proxy or firewall. My best guess up until now is that the back-and-forth bouncing in the SSO system triggers some blocking, as the error mainly concerns that the extension manager were unable to complete the load from the server.

I usually tell customers to use gallery.atmel.com when they hit this, as it at least solves the imediate issue.

No. Former versions did use some strange/mad SOAP like protocol, but I thought they had moved to xml. I might be wrong on this however.

I still have this error. And I have a 1Mbit internet connection. This problem happens from my home office, where I have changed none of the proxy or firewall settings. I am convinced that this error origionates with some change on Atmels side.

Yet as I say I have two PC's running exactly the same VM image. One connects OK, One shows the error. They both talk through the same router and up the same ADSL line so it's not about connection speed.

Just by way of note: This started working for me again as of today. I have not changed anything on my Laptop or network configuration. So, my suggestion is still that this is some server side related thing.

Sadly still broken here (on "new" machine)

And I am back to being not able to use the extension manager. For a moment I was thinking that it worked if I first used a browser to log into my Atmel account, but sadly not. Also tried this with starting Atmel Studio after logging in with the browser. Does not help.

To just add perplexity to injury, the plot unfolds further. When I start Atmel Studio now, it pops up a list of extensions (with extension names) that there are updates for. However, If I either press the updated button, or go through tolls>>extension manager. I get an error poppup stating: "Failed to load page '1': One or more errors occurred. Additional information may be available in the output window pane". There is nothing in the output pane. Also, under available downloads it shows "Updates ( 8 )" I have again tried to first log in to my my atmel account via a browser. No luck.

I can even sign in to my atmel gallery profile - stay logged in by just closing the login window - then still cannot do the extension updates.
