I noticed that Atmel has recently updated the standalone toolchain for AVR32. Since I am developing with AVR32 on 64-bit Linux, it was great to see a 64-bit version of AVR32 Studio posted on the Atmel tools website.

I have a freshly-compiled version of the Linux buildroot toolchain (2.3.0), but I would like to also compile gcc and the other associated utilities (i.e. avr32program) for standalone development.

Does anyone know where to obtain the AVR32 standalone toolchain for the most recent 2.1.4 gcc version? Is there an FTP site or git tree from which I can pull the most recent version of the source tools?

I've noticed that the binaries have been nicely packaged into RPM and DEBs on the Atmel website, but I can't find source code yet.

(i.e. for "release versions" of the toolchain)

You'll find GCC, Binutils and GDB patches on avr32linux.org

http://avr32linux.org/twiki/bin/...

http://avr32linux.org/twiki/bin/...

avr32program is proprietary app from Atmel, so no source available :(

Thanks, hce! :D These look like the most recent versions. I'll apply the patches accordingly. Any chance of getting avr32program binaries built for 64-bit distros based on Debian?

Apparently the DEB packages found at the Atmel binary site will not install on 64-bit (i.e. are compiled for i386 architectures):

Any luck of finding a 64-bit version of avr32program?

In the meantime, I will try to force install the 32-bit DEB of avr32program found at the above link; this should be possible on a 64-bit architecture if dependencies are met:

I believe 64-bit builds of AVR32 Utilities and Toolchain are in the pipe. May be delayed because of the holiday season.

Thanks, torkildr! I'm looking forward to the builds that are in the pipe. I can't help but to get excited, however, when there are new toys to play with.

I think that for builds on my main development Linux box, I am going to sit tight and use the upcoming official Atmel builds so that I am sure that all package dependencies are met.

All the best to you and hce over at Atmel in Norway. :D

Any news on this? It's been a long time and still no 64bit debs. There is, however, a 64bit deb for AVR32Studio which is kind of strange.

On Ubuntu 9.04 I was able to get the 32bit debs installed on my 64bit computer by manually installing them and the requited libraries with getlibs. However, I'm on 9.10 now and I can't get them to work. They are installed but I can't install the libraries.

Atmel if you read this PLEASE put out 64bit packages. I am considering not using an AVR32 if I can't get this to work soon.
