Does anybody know where I can find datasheet of this 2*8 LCD

You can see a LCD wired on a board above. based on the back of its board, it has 8 pin and its seventh pin and eighth pin is connected to VCC and GND. I search in internet for datasheet of this LCD. But I found nothing. Does any one know where I can find it? What kind of protocol does it use to communicate with MCUs?

And how I can monitor its pin to see the data transfers between it and a MCU? (I don't have scope or logic analyser. I want to monitor its pins by an Atmega32 and send the data to my computer's COM port. but I don't have any idea how!)

If your LCD has only got 8 pins,   it can't be a regular HD44780 type.

 

You can identify the GND and VCC pins.   The other 6 pins go to PC0-PC5 on the ATmega8.

 

Of course it is possible that it is a HD44780 type of display with Contrast, WR, DB0-DB3 all connected to GND.

Or it is an SPI display that is being bit-bashed.  e.g. 4-wire SPI + RS + contrast.

 

It is even possible that it is an I2C display,   but PC0-PC3 would be redundant.

 

You could identify everything very easily with a Logic Analyser.    Likewise your key scanning.

 

When you have cracked this particular software/hardware,    will it give you access to a Bank,   Nuclear Bunker,   Satellite,   Prison, ...  ?

I called the manufacturer and they answered me :

From left to right :

DB7 | DB6 | DB5 | DB4 | En(Clock) | RS | VDD | VFF

I'm working in a security laboratory. This is my first hardware testing with AVRs :) So I am tyro in this field. ;)

So if you ignore the '(Clock)' term and change VFF to VSS you wind up with David's answer: ". . . it is a HD44780 type of display with Contrast, WR, DB0-DB3 all connected to GND". 

 

What kind of protocol does it use to communicate with MCUs?

This display should work with any of the standard character mode LCD programs or libraries that do not rely on the busy flag.

I just noticed the date on the PC board.  It's interesting how many people are still re-inventing the wheel when it comes to programming these displays.
