I'm preparing the manufacturing of some ZigBee devices with Atmega256RFR2. There are AT24MAC602 chips on PCBs for obtaining of unique 64-bit MAC address. This MAC consists of 24-bit Atmel's OUI (organization code) and other bits. Can I legally use Atmel's OUI in devices manufactured by another vendor? I looked up some discussions about it. E. g. https://www.avrfreaks.net/forum/w... . The con- is that ZigBee alliance said that yes - ZigBee MAC has to contain unique organization code OUI. The pro- is that, e. g. notebook manufacturers do not replace OUI of Ethernet or WiFi modules. If I can't use Atmel OUI then what the metter to buy AT24MAC602 at all?
