I just tried plugging in my USBKey today for the first time, and I found that large portions of the embedded mass storage drive are corrupt and unusable.

This includes:
\readme.txt
\launch.exe
\autorun.inf
\index.html (valid file with no content)
\tools\*.*
\starterkits\STK525-USBKEY\Docs\*.*
\starterkits\STK525-USBKEY\firmware\hex\*.*
\starterkits\STK525-USBKEY\firmware\atmel hid pc.zip

I'm suspicious that there may be other files I don't know about simply because they aren't showing up in the directory listings.

Could anybody who also has the USBKey please tell me what I'm missing?

Thanks,
Luke

I'll check when I get to work. As I recall, the drive was pretty much full.

The first four are the only top level files.

The tools directory only has one file in it, usbview.exe (68k).

The starterkits directory has the bulk of the files on the drive (~14mb). The docs directory has 14 pdf files and 1 txt file, the firmware directory has 3 zip files, and the hex directory has 10 a90 files.

In addition there is:
1) a _notes directory (one small xml file)
2) a datasheets directory (three pdfs)
3) a html directory (16 htm files)
4) a graf directory (29 gif and jpg files used in the htm files)
5) a libraries directory with 2 sub directories (bootloader with 1 a90 file, headers with one zip file for IAR)

Steve A.

Thanks Steve.

It looks like I've got some research to do. From what I've read I think I can recover the missing zip files from the firmware directory if I register on Atmel's website. I think I would have had to do that anyway to get the password to open the files I do have.

I'm most worried about the Docs directory. It's inaccessible for me. Does there appear to be anything in there which I wouldn't be able to access online, ether immediately or after registration?

You should be able to get all the relevant files on Atmel's site. This is a list of the files (except for a couple that relate to the STK525).

I'd be a little more worried as to why the data was corrupted ... I can think of several reasons, none of them good.

1) Bollixed up transfer of data to drive - programming side.
2) Bollixed up because of problems with key pcb/parts.
3) Bad dataflash chips.
4) Corrupt code on at90usb.

BTW - I like the hardware user guide. Nice photos of the board, schematics of the portions right next to the photos. Well done Atmel.

Does anyone know what they're using for schematic capture ? I know they used to use Protel (99SE I think) but the colors and components look different in this pdf.
