I own a screen printing shop, we also have a digital printing press that needs treated material for the ink to stick. The material we buy has what is called digiprime5000. It is a water based primer. To get a water based primer to stick to vinyl (PVC) the dyne level must be about 42.
Corona treating brings the dyne level up to the required level to allow the coating to bond.
Corona treatment machines run around $25,000.00
I don't know what voltages or how much current it requires. Does anyone know the voltages and current necessary to treat PVC? We use 3 1/2 mil Vinyl with adhesive and an 80 pound liner (paper liner with polypropylene surface to allow liner to be removed from adhesive).
I have found some 20kv units and down the page it shows a unit that can be stacked or be used with a stacker (not sure what that is yet) to allow up to 100kv.
I see one youtube video from a DIY project.
Any input from you plasma folks?
