Does anyone have experience with HVDC on a PCB? I'll have 10KV on a single-sided PCB coming from a EMCO HVDC module connected to one end of the PCB, passing through 2 series current limiting HV resistors and out the other side with HV DC wiring to something else. Should this board be conformal coated? This board and HVDC module will be buried inside a durlon block with a reed switch that opens when the outer instrument case is taken apart, cutting DC power to the AVR controller board that powers the HVDC module.

How long is the creepage path? Clean glass-epoxy pcb doesn't seem to break down any sooner than air, but DC will eventually attract dust which will compromise the insulating quality. One trick is to strategically cut one or more slots across the creepage path, which increases the resistance to tracking and failure.
