I need a compact display for my CarPC. The display is going to be situated directly below my radio, so the text has to be large enough to be easily (I'm going to be driving) read from about arm's length. Two lines are minimum, song title and artist, but more is definitely better. Of course the more lines you have the smaller the font becomes. A graphical display would let me select the font size and take care of that issue. The main issue I have come across while looking at various displays is that the display area is so much smaller than the entire assembly. This LCD is going to be hanging out from my dash, not flush in place with it. This means that any extra size will make it look very out of place. I was looking for a display area of 6-8cm x 2-3.5cm with as little "border" around that display area as possible. Thinner is always better of course, but that comes second to the display area to assembly area ratio. What would you recommend I get based on your experiences and knowledge? Thank you!
Compact displays?

A generic 2 line LCD display should work fine in this kind of situation, the borders are manageable.

The borders all looked rather large to me. I have seen some OLED displays that have almost a full display area but they were too small for my needs and they didn't have a controller (which would be nice). Could you recommend a 2 line LCD with thin borders?
