I've done a few projects using a color graphic LCD who's controller chip was actually on the glass. This allowed me to get the start-up code directly from the manufacturer.
I'm about to do a new project which involves a different GLCD but this time it will use an external and more generic driver. The question I have is, is the startup code more for the LCD driver or for the LCD? I'm going to go out on a limb and say that its for the driver as the interface between the driver and LCD is pretty standard.
The driver chip looks to be very well documented, so I don't think that it is going to be very difficult to get it up and running, even if I have to figure out the entirety of the startup code on my own.
