Hi all,

Please, does someone know if it is possible to use the little blue soapbox outside AVRStudio ?

I have been very happy with PonyProg and a selfmade parallel port programmer until now but, recently, i have been asked to develop an application for the mega2560.

Unfortunately the VMLAB (God bless!) IDE does not support the mega25xx :( :( :( so i went to AVRStudio that is one of the ugliest pieces of software i've ever seen :cry: (at least over the past 30+ years)

On the other side AVRisp programmer is very fast and reliable (they payed me for one :P ...)
so here i am with my question ... third party software, avrstudio tricks, every thing goes !!!

Thank you very much for reading, cheers
Paolo

Reporting what worked for me just if someone else will need:

* get libusb from http://sourceforge.net/projects/...
(at time of this writing)

* unpack and launch
\bin\x86\install-filter-win.exe
then follow the instructions

* if you plan to not longer use AVRstudio you can launch instead
\bin\inf-wizard.exe
but keep in mind that this will "subtract" AVRisp from Windows devices ad it will be :twisted: *very* difficult to remove the libusb created device
(you have been warned :mrgreen: ...)

* install your preferred gui and remember to tell it that avrdude and it's .conf are shipped with WinAVR and are located under
\bin\

btw, BitBurnerAVR worked like a charm for me
http://sourceforge.net/projects/...

This is for Windowers, no advice for *X men, they don't need :lol: ...
