My avrstudio suggested to update my avrisp to version 2.0 so I let it. Unfortunately, now the programmer has become very slow; where it used to take two seconds to program something using avrdude through the gcc makefile, it now takes about 20 seconds....

I added a baudrate in the avrdude config file like this:
id = "avrispv2";
desc = "Atmel AVR ISP V2";
baudrate = 115200;
type = stk500v2;

But that took maybe a few seconds off, hard to tell.

I couldn't find any suggestions in old forum posts. Does anyone have an idea?

Regards,
Igor

It is possible that the ISP clock got reset to its default (slow) state. To change this, launch AVR Studio and connect to the device (Tools | Program AVR | Connect...). On the Main tab, find the group box captioned "Programming Mode and Target Settings", select ISP Mode from the combobox and then click the Settigns button. Select an ISP clock that is no more than 1/4 of your device's clock speed.

YES! You're the man.

Thanks, I never noticed that setting before. This saves me a lot of waiting :-)

Have a good day,
