Dear AVR Freaks / Atmel Gurus,

I recently upgraded from Win7 to Win10 with AS 6.2 installed, and in the beginnning I was able to program my Atmega32 MC without problems. Two days ago, the MKII device was not shown in the device list when entering "device programming".

I've tried to uninstall AS 6.2, removed and reinstalled the Jungo AVRISP mkII driver AFTER installing AS7, however the AVRISP MKII is still not shown as a programming device. PS: The AVRISP mkII lights green when properly connected, and red when voltage drops too low (hence it seems to be "working" fine.).

I've tried to browse the forum for "fixes" on similar cases, however not found any. Forgive me if I'm posting a "duplicate" thread here.

Hoping for help!

Best Regards,

Kristian, Stjørdal, Norway.

Gentlemen,

I was able to fix it, after reading the below post. I did that exact thing, and now it is working fine again.

I might have a simpler solution to the problem. The reason of this error is that Atmel Studio 6.2 expects the AVRISP to run the libusb drivers, which apparently wasn't the case previously.

To fix this error:

- Download Zadig: http://zadig.akeo.ie/. Zadig is a USB driver manager for Windows, and saved me a hundred times this year. The last version comes with the libusb-win32 (v1.2.6.0) driver embedded.

- Open Zadig, Options, List All Devices. The AVRISP mkII device should appear in the list.
- Replace its current driver by libusb-win32 (v1.2.6.0)

That's it! No restart required :)

I had the same problem with both AS 6.2 and AS 7.0, and this fix solved the problem.  Many thanks!

Thanks a ton Kristian. I was struggling with this problem for a day and zadig solved it in a jiffy ! Was working well till it suddenly stopped recognising AVR ISP MK2. Probably a system update did it. Thanks a million

Thanks Kristian,

I had this problem back in October, using Studio 6.2., and solved it using an 'odd fix' that I can't remember.  Today, my PC had yet another Win10 update, and the AVRISP mkII disappeared once again.  I tried Zadig this time and it worked first time with no effort.

This has saved me heap loads of time - so a bit thank you for reposting the solution.

Ren.

I had the same issue with W10, S7 - downloading & running Zadig and selecting the alternate driver fixed the problem. Thank you!
