I'm new to the AVR family, and trying to make use of the atTiny43u for a project. I have WinAVR 20100110 installed, which I'm pretty sure is the latest version.
The programmer I'm using is the USBtinyISP from Adafruit.
If I tell avrdude that I have a mega8 CPU, it reports a signature mismatch as I would expect. It does report the correct signature for the atTiny43u chip I'm using.
This tells me that I've got communications to the programmer, and that the programmer is talking to the chip. It also implies that the system is capable of programming the chip, but doesn't know how.
Avrdude does not have an entry in the conf file for the atTiny43u. Before I go about reinventing the wheel, has anyone created a conf file entry for the atTiny43u that they'd be willing to left me use?

I think it's -F that can be used to tell avrdude to over-ride the signature check. As long as the programming parameters (page size etc) are the same in the device you select that IS supported it should work.
