AVR <-> IDE-HDD

Hello guys...
I just spent several days of my spare time to figure out the basics of connecting a HDD to my AVR chips.
My problem was that I knew little or nothing about the IDE/ATA interface.
As I was unable to find a straightforward "ATA/IDE Getting started guide" anywhere, I was thinking about making one myself, so that other people don't have to spend so much time on this as I have.
