Hello all. Need to run Attiny20 at 20Mhz. DS mentions speed up to 12Mhz. Is it possible that I can use 20Mhz crystal with Attiny20?

Experiments with other AVRs seem to suggest they can usually be over-clocked to anything up to about 200%

Obviously it's fine to "play" in a hobby experiment, it would be commercial suicide to actually design something like this into a commercial product.

OK, I'll bite:  You have quoted the datasheet about the speed.  Tell me, to which pins are you going to connect to the "crystal", that is never mentioned in said datasheet?

Now, there is provision for external clock:

Running that higher than 12MHz will violate the datasheet rules on external clock.

Is the price very attractive, that you are battling the shortcomings of this brain-dead model?

I've never met a pig I didn't like, as long as you have some salt and pepper.

Need to run Attiny20 at 20Mhz.

Why, what is so urgent?  Sometimes an increase in efficiency can lower the needed clock speed.   For example, one sorting method vs another.
