Hi there,

I'm have Atmel Studio 7, a J-Link EDU (configured for SWD) and a ATSAMD51G19A on an Adafruit ItsyBitsy M4 Express and I get a read failure each time I try to read the fuses in the Device Programming dialog. I can read the device signature and the flash just fine, but when I try read the fuses, it succeeds reading the SW0_WORD_x and TEMP_LOG_WORD_x words, but it fails to read the USER_WORD_x words, giving the error:

Memory read failed at offset 0x804008

See image

Memory read failed at offset 0x804008

This is really weird, because I can read that memory range without problem using the Segger J-Link Commander. Everything in the USER_WORDS is FF, which I assume is default.

Anybody know what might be causing this?

It looks like I'm not the only user seeing this problem... https://www.avrfreaks.net/forum/...

Thanks

Martyn

OK, so the XML .atdf files for 1.0.70 and 1.1.92 both have different errors in the memory maps.

The first omits entries for SW0 and TEMP_LOG

The second has those but omits the "AUX0" entry that covers the user page where the USER_FUSES live.

This means that neither can successfully read or write fuses. Oops

So I've edited my 1.1.92 file to include all the required entries and it works. See the other thread I mentioned for details: samd51 fuse bits fail read

Hope that helps others. is there a way to submit this error in the .atdf file so that the next version of the device pack can be sorted?

Thanks. I've now done that. It's a bit of a rigmarole, but I finally got the case logged.
