The June version of Atmel Studio is now available on our update servers (and atmel.com soon as always).

Readme here: as-installer-7.0.1006-readme.pdf.

Short and sweet items:

• New Atmel Start extension that allows the user to create and configure Atmel Start projects within Atmel Studio.

• Ability to load multiple modules in a debug session (experimental). For those that for instance wants to load eeprom files with assembler projects, or populate eeprom with external files. Available in the Advanced tab in the project properties.
• AVR 8-bit GCC Toolchain 3.5.3. Can't remember what the version bump was for.
• ARM GCC Toolchain 5.3.1

Fixes:
• AVRSV-6878: Atmel Studio writes the write-once wdt registers on some SAM devices.
• AVRSV-7470: SAM Cortex-M7 devices fails launch occasionally.
• AVRSV-7471: Devices with external and internal RAM lists all the RAM as available (fixed in studio but will also need updated device support, coming soon).
• AVRSV-7473: Atmel Studio hangs during startup (caused by a hang in the USB subsystem when enumerating tools).
• AVRSV-7474: Kits connected to Atmel Studio are not getting enumerated in the QTouch Start Page.
• AVRSV-7477: Show all files does not work from solution explorer.
• AVRSV-7482: Exception when adding breakpoint on SAM4L.
• AVRSV-7486: Debugging may fail in Cortex-M0+ SAM devices at high clock speeds.

• AVRSV-7499: Arduino import never completes.

As usual, it should already be in your notification window (the small flag in the top right of Atmel Studio), or available through Help->Check for updates.

Aww lads,  would you ever stop it? Pretty much every time I wait for a while until it looks like the dust has settled then download / install. Then within days you go and post the next release.

For those that for instance wants to load eeprom files with assembler projects, or populate eeprom with external files.

HUH? This has always been possible since AS3 or am I missing something here?

Will a version of Jungo intelligent enough to use the USB driver for tools according to the version of Studio used ever become available? That would be a nice fix. wink

The Atmel Studio 7.0.1006 full installer fails to install on a brand new Windows 10 machine (fresh install and clean). It goes to showing the "progress" but fails to populate the display with any progress text (i.e. what its doing) and shows progress bars indefinitely animated. After 10 minutes it locks up and Windows 10 prompts its dead.

The web installer works fine.

I get the same problem on a not new but different Windows 10 machine as well that already had an older Studio 7 installed.

I like full installers working...for the far future in case we ever need to reinstall an old specific version....

I still cant see my atmelice or avrispmkII tools on as7-1006 on win7-32. I deleted all the atmel drivers in programs in control panel, and did an as7 repair, and it actually saw both programmers in tools. I closed my support case. Then the next day they were gone. Zilch. Zip. Nada. I have atmeldrvr and windrvr in Jungo, I have atmelice gateway, but I have a yellow! in usb devices. Should I open another ticket? Would it help to have a 'redetect programming tools' menu item? Does anyone install as7 with JUST THE AVR8 checked and no ASF?

Yes, open another support ticket. Send the same things you sent us last time (guess who's at the other end ...).

I did but on Win7 64bits. wink It's firmly confined to my laptop. No "upgrades" on this PC until "someone" fixes the Jungo driver so that I don't have to do the driver switcheroo between AS4 and AS7.

Fortunately I will be of pension age shortly so if it doesn't happens who cares....... devil

I have started getting the message "The application is in break mode" with no code being supported by the debug engine when I break the code in debugger.

It is not letting me debug as normal. I was able to just close the window and carry on for a while but now it will not work at all.

I am programming in assembler using a JTAGICE3 on windows 10

So far I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. The installer hangs but I got past that but stopping the studio application running in task manager as was suggested here. I have tried going back to an older version but the installer will not do this.

Does anyone know why this is happening and a way around it as I am stuck?

Regards

Murray

So, How do you un-install tmel Studio 7.0.1006 and go back to the previous version?

An update to my debugger error. It turned out that the various errors I was getting were due to the fact that the ATMega2560 clock was not running. This was because I had the BOD fuse set to 4.3v and there must be noise on the power lines. This is being retrofitted into an old piece of equipment. Once I changed the BOD to 2.1v everything works. The error messages that are output from the studio debugger under this condition are rather misleading and not very helpful.

I upgraded to AS7.0.1006.  I am running Windows 10.

I successfully upgraded the firmware on ATMEL-ICE and Dragon before Windows 10.

I can not upgrade the mEDBG on my XMINI-168PB  kit.

I uninstalled AS7 and re-installed it.   I still could not upgrade the XMINI-168PB.    I even tried with the command line atfw -a.   This did not work either.

Looking at "installed programs" from Atmel,   there appear to be quite a few redundant ones.

Which ones are actually required?

Is there a magic bullet that makes the XMINI work?

There have been sporadic reports of USB driver problems on Windows 10; that's now worse for Windows 10 Anniversary Update (released 2016-Aug-02).

Sometimes the resolution is to simply uninstall then reinstall the malfunctioning USB driver.

Windows 10 was added to Jungo; there have been some Jungo changes since then that may affect.

The price for Jungo is approx 4000USD; IIRC one at Atmel did place a link to a new Jungo into a message on this forum.

Atmel design support is aware of the Windows 10 issues.

mEDBG firmware is detected as v1.0d and AS7.0.1066 wants to upgrade to v1.10

It fails with:

mEDBG firmware upgrade failed, toggle power on tool and retry upgrade

I must have upgraded Dragon and ATMEL-ICE when it was Win7-64

I successfully upgraded the EDBG on an M0 Pro board under Win 10

I don't know whether the XMINI-168PB is a problem or Win10 is the problem.

At least the ATMEL-ICE works ok.    Of course AVRs depend on Studio.   At least ARM devices can work with other IDEs.

Update:  I ordered a XMINI-328P from Farnell together with some 1.27mm 5x2 male headers.

It arrived today.   It was not possible to upgrade via USB.   i.e. exactly like my XMINI-168PB kit.

So I soldered the 5x2 headers onto the XMINI boards.   And programmed the mEDBG with an ATMEL-ICE.   This gives me v1.10 firmware.

So I have success !!!

Hi,

Trying to install 7.0.1006 and get the error code 2329. The error message indicate that it may be a problem with the installastion package. Have tried to run as administrator. Log attached.
I am running Win10 vesion 1607, build 14393.10 (anniversary version).
I have previous, before updateing Windows, installed all versions up to 7.0.943 without any problems.

Anybody knows what can be the problem?

br, Asle

Don't install it, version 1006 may have a problem! I had working code in an earlier version, In the new version the same code does not work but compiles fine. I am working on this and will let everyone know what I find.

Tusen takk Morten!

After disabling the antivirus, Trend Micro, during installation, everything went well.

I am unable to get the installer for 7.0.1006, either full or web version, to successfully complete on a Win7 64-bit computer. This started off as a clean install on a machine that had never seen AVR Studio.  After the initial failure, I applied the MS Hotfix KB2921916 for the repeated driver prompt issue.

During the installation process, I selected the AVR 8-bit architecture and ASF and Examples extensions.

The installer completes a portion of the process, but seems to hang at "Packages: Atmel Studio Develpment Environment       Applying" with the message "Initializing Environment" shown under "Details".  The Windows ticker continues circling in the dialogue box, but the installation does not finish.

I too use TrendMicro antivirus. Disabling it did not make any difference.

I thought I'd mention this in case others are experiencing a similar issue.

Kill atmelstudio.exe which is running in the background and then the installation will complete.

Thank you, charla -- that did the trick.  I had to kill the atmelstudio.exe process twice for installation to complete, but at least it finished.

Hello -

I am having a problem with installing Atmel Studio 7.  the installer gets to the point were it checks for windows updates - says I am missing update 3033929 - which I have manually downloaded and tried to install but Windows 7 says it is installed.  I looked in update history and update is installed.  How in the world do I get past his to install?>??

Thanks!
