I have added controller number and SPI module in atmel studio 7.After adding ,in preview code section  i found APIs for SPI_init(),SPI_read(),SPI_write() for SPI module. Is that APIs are  general for all controller or only specific to the controller which i have added?

i choosed SPI aynchronous slave driver .So the generated APIs are,
_spi_s_async_init(),
_spi_s_async_enable(),
_spi_s_async_set_data_order()
io_read(),
io_write().

could anyone help me on this?

If you are talking about using ASF then you are aware there is manual ?

http://asf.atmel.com/docs/latest/

That covers all kinds of Atmel chips. To get more directed help you need to say which Atmel chip you are talking about

Having said that you posted in the tiny/mega forum. Does ASF really have much (any?) support for SPI on tiny/mega?

In which case AVR-Tiny/Mega is not the right place to post. Please understand that this website is made up of "Community"s one is for AVR and one of for ARM. See here:

https://community.atmel.com/comm...

for ARM you use the second one across which leads to here:

https://community.atmel.com/atme...

The ARM forums are here:

https://community.atmel.com/foru...

Please do not make this mistake again. I have now moved 3 of your first 5 posts here.
