Hello all. My name is Sri and I am new to micro-controllers.

I live in India and ordered Atmel ICE PCB thinking that I can get the cable locally here in India.

It turned out that the cable is not easy to find here. I ordered a AVR programming cable from a site called thingbits.net  but it is too big to what is needed (Picture attached).

Question is, is there a place where I can buy this cable cheap enough preferably in India to avoid customs again??

This topic has a solution.

Mouser has an office in Bangalore :

The cable :

1.27mm (50mil) pitch cables are common.

Adafruit has distributors in India.

Thanks a lot for the pointers. I think, I found the cable from the same website (Indian)  where I ordered wrong cables before.

Here is the right cable (1.27mm/50mil) one.

Thanks again.

Make sure you have the correct connector on the target.

And watch out for the cable pin1 re-definition (i.e. error) in the ICE connector.

    See the following:

https://www.avrfreaks.net/forum/a...

https://electronics.stackexchang...

Note especially:

FYI, the 10-pin half-pitch connector on the Atmel ICE intended for ARM Cortex parts is almost standard - essentially it is the standard pinout, but for some reason they did it with the notch on the wrong side. So it's actually a 180 degree rotation of the standard and requires a cable with as similarly rotated end. – Chris Stratton Jan 7 '17 at 8:13

Chris,

Thanks for heads-up. I will make sure the pin config is right on the target. I already ordered 5mil adapter cable along with the adapter break out board shown in following link.

https://www.adafruit.com/product...

I will re-wire it with standard  2x5 connector and use that configuration to match up the target.
