I have been using the Atmel ICE in Studio V7 for a few days successfully and am now are getting  "Atmel Studio was unable to start your debug session. Please verify device selection, interface settings etc".  Target power is good and I can see activity on the RESET/UPDI line.  If however I select "Erase only programming area" rather than "Erase entire Chip" on the Tool Settings, I don't get the message and the target appears to run (status light flashing), but Atmel Studio appears to hang and I can't break the program.  Any ideas?  Is it a broken ICE?  THanks

UPDI must tri-state.

TinyX-OCD (UPDI) Special Considerations | Atmel-ICE

[last paragraph]

When designing a target application PCB where the UPDI interface will be used, the following considerations must be made for correct operation: [pull, capacitor, other drivers]

UPDI Enable with Fuse Override of RESET Pin | tinyAVR® 0-series
