hey there people.

currently i am keen to do some debugging with the ATMEGA8 and was wondering what would be the best way to go about it.

I do my programming in C so a c level debugger would be nice.

Is the simulavr/gdb(insight) combination working reliably for the mega8? Just I have tried it and it seemed to be a little confusing... i can connect to the server but things just don't seem to be working as expected when working with the debugger. Long hangs during program execution, etc.

Alternatively is the coff/avrstudio option the best option presently for debugging the mega8s.

I would appreciate anyone with experience / insight (no pun ;) into this matter to leave a message.

Thanks in advance,

oddbudman :)

Hi,

I'm actually working on an insight/avr-gdb/simulavr/avarice guide, but needs some more time.

You can still use AVRStudio, just generate the "coff" (for Studio 3) or "extcoff" (for studio 4) targets and load the .cof file in AVRStudio.
