I have been searching for a vendor who sells the Atmega88 Automotive but have so far have been unsuccessful. Would anybody happen to know where these can be purchased?

I also was waiting for the automotive-grade AVR models to hit the "shelves". Inquiry through the distribution chain indicates that these will rarely if ever be stocked items at distributors. So you probably have to put in an order for a "flat" of them at your distributor.
