I was doing a search for an AVR processor today using the selection guide from Microchip found here (selected 8-bit AVR on previous page):

https://www.microchip.com/ParamChartSearch/Chart.aspx?branchID=30047

By chance, I noticed that the processor I currently use (ATMega1284p) was not listed even though I had not selected anything that would have excluded it.

I checked and it's still in production so why would it not be listed?

BTW: I'm looking for the lowest cost AVR that can use JTAG, 8 ADCs, SPI, and TWI simultaneously (i.e.: no shared pin conflicts).

The price of current megaAVR "should" be decreasing in the "near" future.

mega1284P follow-on may be AVR128DA or AVR128DB.

Tempe Fab 2, Gresham Fab 4 | AVR Freaks

AVR128DB48 - 8-bit Microcontrollers

AVR128DB28 - 8-bit Microcontrollers (DIP, 10 9 ADC channels if no 32KHz crystal or resonator)

What are the AVR28DA128 AVR32DA128 AVR48DA128 AVR64DA128 ?? | AVR Freaks

ATmega1284P - 8-bit AVR Microcontrollers

Gee, who would have thought that you had to request that special :-)

Guess it makes sense to steer people towards new/popular products.

Thanks much.

Wouldn't the smaller [flash size] members of that family be less expensive?  And the non-P models?

I can pick out a few models -- but they don't have JTAG and rather a different debugging interface.
