Hi there,

Any of you encounter problem with ATJTAGICE3 cable?

It is so fine that I think there are some connection not good.

Do ATmel sell this cable?

Why must it design with another PCB?

I can see a Atmel JTAGICE3 Accessories Kit don't know if it has a spare cable in it.

They are standard cables. I'm pretty sure DigiKey will have them cheaper than Accessories Kit. Just make sure you order correct placement of the connectors. For some reason JTAGICE3 uses reversed connectors.

Why atmel design never think about this?

They create the same problem with JTAGICE3 again, cable problem.

I had problem with the cable for ATAVRISP2, but that is a bigger pitch.

I don't know, I don't like them either. Especially with this non-standard cable configuration, which makes it impossible to find cables.

Farnell sells the little connectors RECEPTACLE, 1.27MM, IDC, 10WAY.

For the cable I used a old 0.635 pitch pata HDD cable wich I splitted to a 10 way version.

As I found the connector very uneasy to disconnect from the board I was afraid it would not last for long.

So I made a 10 way adapter cable from 1.27  mm female to 2.57 male standard pitch.

Now I can easy use my old cables or make them myself.

Yep, but 3 euro for a stupid piece of plastic? It is hard to imagine worst choice of a connector.

In the JTAG ICE mkII there is this adapter board from a normal 0.1" pitch to the small 0.05" pitch. I use this and the board acts as a holder. This way I cause less damage to the cable when I insert it or take it off.
