Hi,

scanning all the 27 pages for changes relevant to my project is almost killing me, I will surely miss some important points now or in the next release notes.

Would it be possible to create an overview page at the beginning, with each issue only using one line and grouped in different categories like UC3, SAM and XMega?

Regards,

Peter

Thank you! Perhaps you can setup an automated process in the future, that can make this work for you.

3.5.1 is published, it's a short update for FreeRTOS and SAM4S. The doc is being pushed now on asf.atmel.com.

Hi there,

i get the impression that ASF Update 3.5.1 is incomplete?

I did update a project from ASF 3.4.1 directly to 3.5.1.
First i stumbled about a case where a bug that was announced to be fixed wasn't after the update. After some more digging around it seems that no bug from the 3.5.0 release has been fixed in 3.5.1 with only a few exceptions.

If you look at the release notes from 3.5.0 and 3.5.1 you'll find that these are much shorter for 3.5.1 but do mention some bugfixes and changes from 3.5.0. First i guessed this was some kind of documentation lapsus or one was trying only to mention the most important changes in 3.5.1 notes again. Right now i'm afraid it looks like all the changes and bugfixes that are missing in the 3.5.1 releasenotes are really missing in code as well!

Some examples:
3.5.0:
#ASFP-2213 and 2312 bugfixes regarding can bus.
3.5.1:
both are not mentioned again and source code is unchanged(regarding these bugs that i know how the bugfix should look like).

Could someone at Atmel please look into this?
Many thanks!
Holger

P.S. I use AS6 SP2 and updated ASF immediatly after the SP2 update to avoid the "ASF3.5.0 version number unknown" problem.

After upgrading from 3.2.1 to 3.5.1 SPI master code is broken no communication! Please give an example how to use USB composite driver. If I use the USB slave component in a new ASF project I can't select / add the services like CDC and MSC. There is no selection for usb services in asf wizard!

3.5.1 was a very quick patch release from 3.5.0 for two reasons; one, the initial 3.5.0 release was packaged improperly, which was causing upgrade issues. Two, it added FreeRTOS support and some other goodies that were important, but missed the 3.5.0 release by a week.

That CAN issue was mistakenly put in the release notes; I *think* it was accidentally set as closed rather than verified which caused the release packager to include the public description in the release notes.

I think we need a little more than that; what architecture are you using? Are you using the common SPI master service, or the raw architecture driver?

Add the USB service to your project, select "Composite". Then expand via the little arrow to the left the USB service entry and you'll find a sub-entry called "USB Composite Device". Expand again to see the individual classes where you can turn them on and off.

Thank You Dean for the USB description!

I use the old style SPI master device driver (without selection!)
Try to build a new Project EVK1104 usb DEVICE msc ON sd card project. If you look in the asf wizard you see there is no USB diver component!

Am i right then that _only_ the changes in 3.5.1 release notes are really included and we should forget about the 3.5.0 release notes?

Otherwise it would be great if we could get correct and complete notes.

Thanks
Holger

Mine shows up a "USB Device" service, using ASF 3.5.1 when building from a EVK1104 board template.

File a bug report with as much info as you can think of. This should be working however, as some of the unit tests are dependent on the SPI service and problems with it should have shown up as a failed build and prevented a release.

Not sure - in general the release notes are trustworthy and limited to the changes in the specific release only. The missing patches in 3.5.0 that were listed in the release notes were an anomaly.
